At Artomatic 5-29-2009
Explanation:
Artomatic was a happening staged in a 9 story warehouse in SE DC. Each floor was populated by art exhibits, musicians, improv actors, performing artists, film screenings, installations, food (some of it was free!), bars, and many many many many white hipsters and yuppies. By the time I reached the 9th floor I was exhausted both intellectually and physically (also wearing 4 inch wedge heels) but it was certainly worth the trip. I fell in love with a Regina Spektor wannabe banging out tunes on a tiny casio keyboard that framed her legs perfectly on the third floor, smelled an odor that can only be described as “asparagus-urine” on the 6th floor, and saw Peep dioramas. All of this was free.
