Lunch at Domku
Had lunch with my Momma and the lovely Elisabeth H and Domku, a trendy cafe/bar in the Petworth Neighborhood. When Domku is good they are very very good, and when they are bad they are disappointing.
I love: the salmon hash, the norweigian pancakes (especially with kielbasa, onions, and smoked gouda), their soups, their cocktails, their anthropologie-esque decor, the soundtrack (Jens Lekman, Peter, John and Bjorn, Bjork), the one really sexy male waiter.
I do not love: the disappointingly small portions, the disconcertingly overpriced salads ($8 for cucumbers, tomatoes, and feta?!?!), the somewhat slow service.
All in all I got to Domku if I want to splurge a bit on brunch and be surrounded by pretty things and people. However, I feel like the most annoying gentrifier when I enter the neighborhood and watch all the white yuppies and hipsters flocking into the cafe.
